HALIFAX, N.S. (October 1,
2018) Atlantic Lottery president and CEO Brent Scrimshaw released the
corporations 2017-2018 annual report and financial results Monday during
an event at the Volta Labs innovation hub in Halifax.
Im proud to share
that Atlantic Lottery exceeded its target to report profits of $419.2 million
in fiscal year 2017-18, Scrimshaw said. In addition to
providing strong, stable returns to our provincial shareholders, the past year
also saw us take significant steps to modernize our business and culture. This
will ensure we are better prepared to grow in the future and continue to make
significant contributions to Atlantic Canada.
Of the total profits in 2017-18,

Atlantic Lottery is publicly owned
by the four Atlantic provinces and returns 100% of its profits to the four
provincial governments.
Founded in 1976, Atlantic Lottery
has since returned more than $9 billion in total profits to the region. At the
end of the 2017-18 fiscal year, Atlantic Lottery had 650 employees based in all
four Atlantic provinces.
Investing in the Future
Among Atlantic Lotterys key
successes of the 2017-18 financial year was the implementation of enabling
technology infrastructure, including new systems for both retail lottery and
iLottery, as well as broad new digital applications online and through new
mobile iOS and Android apps.
These investments improve
customers experience wherever they choose to engage with the
companys products.

Combined with an emphasis on
creating an innovative and agile culture, Scrimshaw said the new technology
will allow for quicker and more cost-effective development and deployment of
the new games, promotions and experiences that players have come to expect.
This is at the core of what
Atlantic Lottery is all about. We know our players have more options than ever
and we want to make sure we are able to give them everything theyre
looking for, while also offering the peace of mind of knowing theyre
playing in a safe and regulated environment.
Scrimshaw also highlighted that
Atlantic Lotterys iLottery online player base increased substantially
from 63,000 to 72,000 in 2017-18, with further growth anticipated next year. In
addition, Atlantic Lotterys sponsorship program supported events across
Atlantic Canada, including Cavendish Beach Music Festival, Royal St.
Johns Regatta, Celtic Colours and Ocean Festive.

New
Lottery Scratch-Offs Offer Unique Ways to Win
Three Big Jackpots Continue
to Grow
LITTLE ROCK, Arkansas (October 1,
2018) -- Tomorrow the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery (ASL) will launch four new
instant scratch-off games with unique ways to win.
Although the Big Multiplier game is
the third oversized instant ticket to be sold in Arkansas, it is a first of its
kind with four games on one ticket.

 |
Players can win up to 40 times on
this $10 scratch-off that has a top prize of $250,000.
Another first with the Big
Multiplier ticket is that for the first time ever the back of the ticket
reminds lottery players to join The Club, said Bishop Woosley, ASL
director. Players who join The Club can submit non-winning instant
tickets for a second chance to win and earn reward points on eligible tickets
that are redeemable in the online store. With the official ASL Club app players
can even scan their tickets with their mobile device. And its free to
join.
The second distinctive instant
ticket this month is called Black and Gold. Its unique feature is
there are 10 additional chances to win on the back of the ticket.
I think players will really
like the Black and Gold ticket. The top prize is $100,000, and they can win up
to 25 times. Plus they get to scratch the back for another game. All for just
$5, Woosley said.
The other two new scratch-off
tickets are the $1 Cash on the Spot ticket with a top prize of $3,000 and the
$20,000 Money Bag, which sells for $2. Both tickets are loaded with prize
doublers.
Woosley said the top three big
jackpot games are all growing to near record amounts. The Natural State
Jackpots draw tonight is for $300,000. Tuesdays Mega Millions
jackpot is up to $367 million, and the Powerball jackpot stands at $229 million
for Wednesdays drawing.

International Association of Gaming Regulators Annual
Conference in Copenhagen Attracts over 200 Delegates
COPENHAGEN, Denmark (October 2,
2018) -- IAGRs Annual Conference, September 17 - 20 in Copenhagen, has
been declared a huge success by IAGR Board of Trustees and delegates alike
Trude Felde, newly designated IAGR
President and Senior Advisor at the Norwegian Gaming and Foundation Authority
said: The Conference attracted almost 230 delegates representing 47
different gambling jurisdictions and 41 countries from every continent.
As Co-chair of the Conference
planning committee, I believe we met our goal of making the Conference a truly
global event and I am pleased at the diverse nature of both the speakers and
panellists, and the delegates.
We attracted many new speakers who
made an invaluable contribution to the program as well as fresh insights from
speakers who have worked with us previously.
Our program was intended to
challenge and generate discussion within the overall theme Let us make
great regulation together.
Our first keynote speaker, Chris
Brady, Professor of Management Studies and Director of the Centre for Sports
Business at Salford University in the UK, gave us food for thought in likening
regulators and punters to referees and players.
Ranjana Adhikari, Co-head, Media
Entertainment & Gaming Practice from Nishith Desai Associates, asked us
whether regulating gambling was a job for state/government or industry. The
debate was illustrated by the example of India.
We also tackled subjects such
as the effectiveness of sanctions; whether payment blocking was a successful
tool in the fight against illegal operators; the dilemmas faced by regulators,
and crisis and emergency management in casinos.
From a global perspective we learnt
about sports betting in Africa and the USA, how gambling is developing in Latin
America, and the impact of the recently imposed advertising ban in Italy.
Lootboxes; effective regulation through social licence and risk communication
strategies; the importance of dialogue between regulators and industry, and
whether bonuses continued to be an attractive marketing tool, all contributed
to a stimulating and thought-provoking event.
We also revealed the findings of our
first survey of IAGR members, covering questions ranging from the size of
different regulators, their areas of responsibility and the challenges that
they face. We will be publishing this survey on the IAGR website in the near
future.
Birgitte Sand, Director of the
Danish Gambling Authority, who co-chaired the Conference planning committee,
and her team of staff worked tirelessly to ensure that the delegates
experienced the best that Copenhagen has to offer.
I would like to take this
opportunity to thank all the presenters for their contributions, compelling
insights and for giving their time so freely.
At the Annual General Members
Meeting, three new members were confirmed as members of the IAGR Board:
- Dr Jason Lane, Chief Executive, Jersey Gambling
Commission, Jersey
- Ben Haden, Programme Director Insight, UK
Gambling Commission
- Steven Ngubeni, Chief Executive Officer, Gauteng
Gambling Board, South Africa
Trude Felde, Senior Advisor, The
Norwegian Gaming & Foundation Authority will serve 12 months as President,
with Paul Newson, Deputy Secretary, Liquor, Gaming and Racing NSW,
Australia as Vice-President. Bruce Molnar, Chairman, Pokagon Band
