IGT Signs Cross-Licensing Agreement with AGS

Interim Report T2/2017: Veikkaus Has Over Two Million Loyal Customers

ESPOO, Finland (September 21, 2017) -- The new Veikkaus, which begun its operations at the beginning of 2017, has made a good start. Merging the operations has required a great deal of the company’s resources, but we have still managed to develop our financial result according to plan. The number of Veikkaus’ registered loyal customers went up to over two million during the period under review.

  • Turnover EUR 2 107.1 million (-0.5%*).
  • Result EUR 665.7 million (-3.3%).
  • The turnover of Slot Machine and Instant Games, as well as that of Skill Games showed positive development. In Lucky Games, the turnover decreased as a result of a smaller number of jackpots available.
  • We have already over two million loyal customers. Over 40% of our customers play identified.

 

The period under review got a great climax, as we passed the milestone of two million registered loyal customers. That represents about one two thirds of the adult Finns engaging in gaming,” says Veikkaus’ President and CEO Olli Sarekoski.

At the end of the period, Veikkaus had a total of 2 012 million registered loyal customers in its customer base. The share of identified gaming reached 40.3% during the period (+2.8 percentage points).

Increasing identified gaming is one of Veikkaus’ most important strategic goals. It enables us to offer our customers even better, service-oriented customer experiences, together with all the tools necessary for responsible gaming,” says Sarekoski.

Great start of the year for Slot Machine and Instant Games, and Skill Games

Veikkaus games fall into three business operation groups, the largest of which is that of Slot Machine and Instant Games. The Slot Machine and Instant Games** posted a turnover of EUR 801.6 million (+4.2%) in the period between January and August. The biggest product launch during the period under review was that of Kulta-Jaska 2 game both as a slot machine game and in the web service veikkaus.fi. The launch was the most successful of all times in the game’s specific product group.

The turnover of Lucky Games** was EUR 764.0 million (-8.2%) in the period between January and August. The fall can be explained by the jackpot levels in Eurojackpot and Vikinglotto that were lower than in the previous year, as well as by a smaller number of draws in Lotto, Eurojackpot, and the Jokeri games. Vikinglotto went through one of the greatest revisions in the game’s history in May, which has received positive responses from the players.

Skill Games** attained a turnover of EUR 541.5 million (+ 5.2%) between January and August. Fixed odds games have posted solid growth during the year (+16.0%). In addition, the turnover of Football Pools showed extremely favourable development during the summertime third (+11.1%). The turnover of the toto games went down by 0.5%. The increase in the number of customers that followed the launch of the new web store has stabilized, and there are currently ca. 40% more customers than before the launch.   

Webstore has over half a million players a week

The players have welcomed the renewed webstore that was opened in April, with the service already attracting over 550 000 players every week. After the extensive reform, we have focused on improving the user interfaces, services, and games. During the next phase of the reform, we will combine the two different game accounts, the Game Account and the Casino Account. At the same time, we will make the tools for gaming control uniform. The gaming control tools are a service where the players can follow and control their gaming.

Merging the operations of the three old gaming operators will affect the company’s result due to non-recurring integration expenses. However, Veikkaus believes that the projected profit for 2017, recorded in the State Budget, EUR 1 014.3 million, is attainable. The proceeds will be distributed to beneficiaries in their entirety. Art, sports, science, and youth work will receive 53% of the funds; organizations operating within social affairs and health will receive 43%; and equestrian sports and horse breeding will receive 4%.

Missouri Lottery Makes Its Second-Largest Contribution To Public Education

JEFFERSON CITY, Missouri (September 15, 2017) -- Today the Missouri Lottery made its second-highest monthly proceeds transfer in its 31-year history, worth more than $35.5 million, thanks in part to the second-highest ever Powerball jackpot run that ended in August. The September transfer of $35,539,117 is based on sales in August, and brings the FY18 total to more than $78.7 million.

The Powerball jackpot run that ended Aug. 23 generated more than $12.6 million for education,” said May Scheve Reardon, executive director for the Missouri Lottery.

Not only are high jackpots a lot of fun for players, but they also ramp up contributions to education.”

Since Missouri Lottery sales started in 1986, the Lottery has generated more than $5.8 billion for the state and public education. Annual Lottery proceeds comprise about 4 percent of the state’s funding for public education – an effort shared by local, state and federal governments.

Prior to each fiscal year, the Lottery averages the most recent five years’ profits for a “benchmark” and increases that amount by 1 percent to arrive at a prudent goal for the next fiscal year.

Programs currently funded in FY18 include the A+ Scholarship Program, the Foundation Program and Access Missouri, among many others.

In addition to providing funds for public education, the Lottery also benefits the state by collecting state taxes on prizes of more than $600. During FY17, the Lottery collected $3.6 million in state tax withholdings, along with another $664,000 in debt offsets for back taxes, child support, public defender fees and other state agency debts.

CHARLOTTETOWN (P.E.I.) – Atlantic Lottery President and CEO Brent Scrimshaw released the corporation’s 2016-2017 annual report and financial results today at a luncheon hosted by the Greater Charlottetown Area Chamber of Commerce.

In fiscal year 2016-17, I’m proud to share that Atlantic Lottery profits exceeded target at $422 million,” Scrimshaw said. “Our profit trajectory, largely the result of operational improvements, now sees us returning $60 million dollars more per year than we were just five years ago.”

Scrimshaw added: “Of course, overall profit is a big part of the story but it’s not the whole story. We experienced some challenges this year: slowing economies, increased competition, and the accelerating shift to digital gaming – a channel in which we are not yet fully product competitive.”

(the "Acquiror"), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Pollard Banknote, has acquired, pursuant to the compulsory acquisition procedures of the Canada Business Corporations Act (the "Compulsory Acquisition"), 976,932 common shares ("Common Shares") of INNOVA that were not tendered to Pollard Banknote's offer to acquire INNOVA which expired at 5:00 p.m. on August 15, 2017. The Common Shares acquired represent 4.87% of the issued and outstanding Common Shares), and were acquired by the Acquiror for $2.50 per Common Share for an aggregate purchase price of $2,442,330.

The Stars Group Raises Full Year 2017 Guidance; Announces Additional $75 Million of Debt Prepayment

Full Year Guidance

Based on year-to-date performance, The Stars Group has updated its previous full year 2017 guidance and now expects:

  • Revenues of between $1,285 and $1,315 million, as compared to the prior range of $1,200 and $1,260 million.  The revised guidance implies 2017 revenue growth of between 11% and 14% compared to the prior year and includes an expectation that real-money online poker revenue will be slightly higher year-over-year as The Stars Group, among other things, continues to experience a very positive consumer response to Stars Rewards, which was rolled out globally in July;

These estimates reflect management's view of current and future market and business conditions, including assumptions of  (i) anticipated negative operating conditions in Poland primarily related to constraints on processing payments in that jurisdiction, the cessation of real-money online poker in Australia on September 11, 2017, and the cessation of real-money online gaming in Colombia on July 17, 2017, (ii) the introduction of Stars Rewards, The Stars Group's previously disclosed cross-vertical customer loyalty program, (iii) no other material adverse regulatory events and (iv) no material foreign currency exchange rate fluctuations, particularly against the Euro which is the primary depositing currency of The Stars Group's customers, that could impact customer purchasing power as it relates to The Stars Group's U.S. dollar denominated product offerings. Such guidance is also now based on a Euro to U.S. dollar exchange rate of 1.18 to 1.00 and all other currencies at their average exchange rate for the month of August, in each case for the remainder of 2017, unaudited expected results and certain accounting assumptions.

Debt Prepayment

Next week, The Stars Group will prepay without penalty an additional $75 million under its second lien term loan using cash on the balance sheet and cash flow from operations.  Following this prepayment, The Stars Group will have repaid $115 million of its second lien debt thus far in 2017, resulting in a total reduction in annual interest expense of approximately $9.5 million, and reducing the principal balance of the second lien term loan to $95 million.
