Christophe Blanchard-Dignac was appointed to the post of Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of La Française des Jeux on October 16, 2000.
Mr. Blanchard-Dignac was born in Bordeaux in 1953. Qualified in political science and public law, he is a graduate of the Ecole Nationale d’Administration. In 1979, he began working in the budget division of the French Ministry of the Economy and Finance. Between 1983 and 1985, he was employed at the Caisse Nationale de Crédit Agricole, a large French bank. From 1986 to 1988, he was budget advisor to Edouard Balladur, minister of the economy, finance and privatization.
Between 1988 and 1994, he held the posts of sub-director then deputy director of the budget division, where his main areas of focus were economic intervention and relations with the public sector.
After acting as vice-chairman, financial director and advisor to the chairman of the French post office in 1994 and 1995, Mr. Blanchard-Dignac returned to the Ministry of the Economy and Finance as head of the budget division. In that capacity, he sat on the boards of several large state-owned companies.
Christophe Blanchard-Dignac takes over from Bertrand de Gallé, Chairman and CEO since January 1994. Over the past six years, Mr. de Gallé successfully restored rigor and transparency to the corporation, and then implemented a policy of innovation that made it possible to recover sustained growth. In recognition of these efforts, the board of directors named Bertrand de Gallé Honorary Chairman of La Française des Jeux.
The Chairman and CEO of La Française des Jeux is appointed by a decree of the French President on a motion from the company’s board of directors.
